FAQs

Product Info

What size should I choose?

Our swimwear runs pretty true to size and is designed for being active both in and out of the water (think cliff diving and waterfall hikes). Please refer to our sizing chart for U.S. and international sizing. Be sure to compare your body measurements according to the chart for the best fit. Our recycled swimwear fabric has incredible compression, allowing our suits to conform to all body types and has lots of give without being too tight or loose. This comes in handy if you usually fall in between sizes.

Are the bikini tops padded?

Some of our bikini tops have the option to add removable padding. If padding is not added to your order, the top will still have a slit if you change your mind in the future. All one piece swimsuits and surf suits do not have a padding option.

What is your swimwear made of?

All of our bikinis, one pieces, and surf suits are made with ECONYL® regenerated nylon that supports an eco-friendly lifestyle. Ghost fishing nets, plastic bottles, and other nylon waste are removed from the ocean and landfills, recycled, and repurposed into the nylon fabric that will become your Kaiona Swim kini. Visit our sustainability page to learn more about our fabrics. Our recycled swimwear fabric is also:

  • SPF 50+
  • Chlorine resistant

How should I care for my swimwear?

Our bikinis and surf suits are made out of high-quality recycled nylon and are designed to last. We ask that you care for your sustainable bikini so it lasts year after year, not only so you can save on your summer wardrobe, but also to lessen the burden on the environment.

After swimming in salt water or chlorinated pools, immediately hand wash and rinse the suit in cold water. Hang to dry in a shady spot out of direct sunlight. Avoid abrasive surfaces that may damage the swimsuit material. Light colored bikinis are more susceptible to stains from dark sand, dirt, or mud.

Brand Info

Why the name Kaiona Swimwear?

Our designer grew up on the shore of Waimānalo, O'ahu, just a stone's throw away from Pā Honu (Turtle Pond) and Kaiona Beach Park. The name honors the popular beach and her upbringing at this special place. Kaiona is also the name of a compassionate goddess in Hawaiian culture, who is related to Pele, the volcano goddess. Kaiona is said to send her 'iwa (great frigate bird) to help travelers lost in the mountains return to safety. This connection between the mountains and the ocean made perfect sense for the brand.
